U.S. Chamber Names Heritage Homes Finalist for 2011 Small Business of the Year Award
03/14/2011
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today named Heritage Homes, of Fargo, North Dakota, one of seven finalists for the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award. Heritage Homes will be honored during America's Small Business Summit 2011, May 23-25, in Washington, D.C., where a national winner will be announced and will also receive a $10,000 cash price courtesy of the U.S. Chamber.
"Heritage Homes has turned a dream into a reality through hard work and perseverance," said Thomas J. Donohue, the U.S. Chamber's president and CEO. "It is a true leader in our economic recovery, and today we honor Heritage Homes employees, and an American dream that is alive and stronger than ever."
Heritage Homes built it's first home in 1995, beginning with only three in the first year of business and now exceeding well over fifty. While maintaining strong growth, CEO Daryl Braham and business partner Tyrone Leslie successfully transformed the company from a solely profit-driven enterprise to one focused on meeting the needs of its clients and supporting its community. Heritage is actively involved in the Fargo-Moorhead Home Builders Association and participates in at least 10 charity events per year. Their work has helped change the lives of three families featured on the Emmy-award-winning program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
The DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam's Club, pays tribute to businesses showcasing exemplary practices in the areas of staff training and motivation, community involvement, customer service, and strategy. One finalist from each region was selected out of the 75 Blue Ribbon Award winners, which were announced by the U.S. Chamber on March 1. The winner will be announced during the America's Small Business Summit 2011 awards luncheon on May 24.
