Home Builders Association names Leslie 2008 Builder of the Year

06/22/2009

Fargo, N.D. - The Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead announces Tyrone Leslie, Heritage Homes, as the recipient of its 2008 Builder of the Year award.

This award is presented each fall to recognize one outstanding builder member for effort and work expended in the interest of his or her fellow members, association and community. Leslie has demonstrated the highest standards of an HBA member by building both the image and strength of the association through service and dedication. He has been a member of the HBA since 1998.

Leslie was a Builder of the Year award nominee in 2006 and 2007 and has been a director on the HBA board for one year. He was chair of the Public Issues Committee and PAC Committee and serves on the Home Builders Care Foundation board. Next year, Leslie will serve as treasurer on the board of directors’ executive committee. He has been a key supporter of the HBA’s fundraising for the North Dakota Association of Builders political action committee and National Association of Home Builders political action committee. He is a PAC trustee.

His civic activities include membership in Olivet Lutheran Church and the Fargo Rotary Club. Heritage Homes was involved in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that happened in Minot in 2005 and in New Orleans last year. The company also renovated a facility serving children and adults with emotional and developmental disabilities for Access of the Red River Valley, and is working on another build for Access with a 2009 completion date.

HBA Executive Vice President Bryce Johnson says, “Tyrone’s enthusiasm is limitless and he is someone who is sincere and passionate about the things he believes in. Simply put: his enthusiasm is contagious! He is always striving to be the best, and wants the HBA and its events and activities to be the best, too. He cares about the community and his industry and gives as much effort as it takes to make any endeavor a successful one. The HBA and our community are better because of his support an involvement.”

As a recipient of the Fargo-Moorhead Builder of the Year award, Leslie will be included in a state-wide competition judged by the North Dakota Association of Builders. Winners will be announced at NDAB’s annual meeting in November.

The HBA of F-M represents more than 925 home builders and their associates in the housing industry throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area. The association is a nonprofit organization representing the building industry in several community events and projects throughout the F-M area.
