A Day of Preparation

There were no red carpets or Hollywood parties Saturday night for the cast of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition—even though they found out they just received an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program. Instead they were busy designing special details of the Blivens' home and took a short break today to celebrate with a cake.
- All that training at Minot State University came in handy as men and women from the hockey, track and basketball teams moved the Blivens' belongings out of the house and into storage.
- A backyard shed, the deck and the front steps and the wheelchair ramp were all removed from the Bliven property
- Movers lifted the Blivens' house off its foundation-ready to move to a new location where it will be renovated by a Habitat for Humanity crew and presented to another family.
- When Michelle’s sister heard about the home makeover, she took two weeks of vacation to partake in this event that will change her family's life.
- Tents began popping up all around the build site to house ABC staff, to check in volunteers, and most importantly, food to keep the building crew going around the clock.
- Hundreds of skilled craftsmen and women began arriving on site to prepare for the building to begin.
- A sea of hard hats arrived—around 2,000.
Inspired by the ABC show, a Marion, ND family recently completed their own home makeover to accommodate their son’s wheelchair. When they heard the Extreme team was in town, they came to share their scrapbook and received autographs from the design crew.
