Day 4 of the build
Last updated 5/16/2008, 10:45 AM
Going into this build, Heritage Homes was just one of eight builders in a conglomeration. Now, at the end of Day 3 we have moved up to CO-LEAD BUILDER!!! What a great honor for us….and also a lot more work! J However, the entire ND Team has really raised the bar here in New Orleans. We have begun to set the standards and feel very comfortable taking on this new role.
Today we started the day as a typical build day and ended it at maximum speed with an all out effort to get things back on track. Almost 95% of the skilled workers working through the night were NOT local; but this build is being done by the band of brothers and our crews almost entirely during evening hours. We spent several hours in the morning working to reset the VIP area, relocated the media area, work with the locations team to set up the appreciation area for the workers (which there was no water, coffee etc for the workers the first night, and once we found out we stepped in to fix that). The team from ND has been a working machine!!! All day our trades stepped up to help out, even doing work in areas they don’t usually work in. It has been an incredible sight to see how all of the ND team has stepped up to lead! Heritage Homes was scheduled for the day shift today, but ended up working various shifts: Nick started at about 7 am, and didn’t get to bed until about 7 am THE NEXT DAY, slept until about noon and is now back on site. Tyrone started about 9 am, broke for about 3 hours sleep and got right back to the site at about 12 am. And he has been there ever since! Daryl got to site about 7:30 am, and worked until about 3:30 am and then back to site this morning at about 7 am again. Brian has also been working from about 10 am until about 1:30 am and then took phone calls from 3:30am to 4 am and is back out there again now! Several of our trades worked 24 hours plus as we had major problems setting the wall panels. We were set to have all framing done in about 14 hours, and it will take about 24 when all is said and done. The weather has been both freezing cold, and almost too hot. The sun is very hot and everyone is getting sunburned! Very little rain except for a terrible storm the first day, which has been good for us as we needed extra time to get the build site closed in.· Heritage Homes is leading framing for ‘Pod 3’, the third round section of the house as seen on photos, and electrical, plumbing and insulation for the entire home.
· Precision Plumbing from Fargo, ND took an unplanned lead to assure plumbing at the church was installed correctly and timely. They worked on all of the plumbing at the church “hero” site as well as working on the plumbing throughout the house yesterday.
· Pro Landscaping from Fargo, ND has been helping with all areas in preparation for the landscaping around the Usea family home.
· Laughlin Electric of Fargo, ND has led all aspects of electrical, doing most of the electrical work in the house themselves. Their work has pulled the project forward to continue to be on-time.
· Home Heating of Fargo, ND has been working with several different aspects of mechanical work for the Usea family home. Again, stepping up beyond their original call to duty.
· Neil Lotvedt of Lotvedt Construction and Lumber of Rugby, ND has been the lead for framing in the ‘pod’, one area of the house the ND crew has been assigned, throughout the night last night.
